K9EDGE (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at https://wp307035.wpdns.ca. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and share your information.
Who we are
K9EDGE provides private dog-training services in and around Edmonton, Alberta. To contact us about privacy, please use the form on our Contact page.
What data we collect and why
1) Contact forms & bookings
When you submit a form or book a session, we collect the details you provide (e.g., name, email, phone, address, dog information, preferred times). We use this to answer questions, schedule services, and provide the training you requested.
2) Checkout, quotes, and customer accounts
If you place an order or request a quote, we collect billing/shipping details and order information so we can process the purchase or quote, prevent fraud, and keep necessary records. If you create an account, we store your profile to simplify future bookings/orders.
3) Address geocoding for service area & travel fees
To show your distance-based travel fee (inner/green/red circles) or determine if a custom quote is needed, we may send your address or postal code to a geocoding service (OpenStreetMap Nominatim) to convert it to coordinates and calculate distance. We only send the minimum needed (e.g., street/city/province/postal code). We may store the calculated distance/zone with your order/quote.
4) Comments
If comments are enabled and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent to help spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to check if you use it. After approval, your profile image is visible with your comment. See Gravatar’s policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/
5) Media you upload
If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download and extract location data from images.
6) Analytics & performance
We use analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand site usage and improve performance. Analytics tools set cookies or use similar technologies to measure traffic and interactions.
7) Payments
If you pay online, your payment details are processed directly by our payment processor(s) (e.g., Square/Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers. The processor may receive your order total, name, billing address, and email to complete the transaction. For “Request a Quote” checkouts, no payment is taken at that time.
8) Anti-spam & security
We may use automated spam detection and security services that process visitor IP addresses, user-agents, and form content to protect our site and users.
Cookies
Convenience & login
- If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for your convenience (lasts up to 1 year).
- A temporary cookie is set on the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies (deleted when you close the browser).
- Login cookies last about 2 days; screen-options cookies last about 1 year. “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for about 2 weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
Publishing
If you edit or publish an article, a cookie saving the post ID may be set (expires after ~1 day).
Store & booking
WooCommerce and booking tools set functional cookies (e.g., cart/session) so your cart and checkout work properly and to remember booking details.
You can control cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles or pages may include embedded content (e.g., videos, maps, posts). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that content—especially if you have an account and are logged in to that service.
Who we share your data with
- Service providers who help us operate the site (hosting, email, analytics, security, anti-spam).
- Payment processors (e.g., Square/Stripe) to handle online payments securely.
- Geocoding provider (OpenStreetMap Nominatim) solely to determine service area/distance for travel fees or quotes.
We require providers to use your data only to perform services for us, consistent with this policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
How long we retain your data
- Comments: retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-ups automatically.
- Customer accounts: profile data is kept until you delete it or we remove inactive accounts.
- Orders/quotes: kept as long as needed for service delivery, dispute resolution, and legal/tax/accounting requirements.
- Technical logs & security data: retained for a commercially reasonable period for security and site reliability.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- request access to the personal data we hold about you,
- request correction or deletion,
- object to or restrict certain processing,
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and
- request a portable copy of your data.
To make a request, contact us via the Contact page. We may need to verify your identity. Some data cannot be deleted where we must keep it for legal, security, or transactional record-keeping.
Where your data is stored and sent
Our website is hosted in North America Cloud Servers, some providers may process data in other countries. By using the site, you understand your data may be transferred to and processed in those jurisdictions.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Address data may be sent to a geocoding provider to determine service area eligibility and travel fees.
Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child provided us personal information, please contact us to request deletion.
